Upon delivery of files to the printing house, ftp protocol (ftp.uprint.ee) should be preferred. The corresponding user ID-s, password and instructions will be given by sales manager or repro department. Smaller files may be sent via e-mail to the address firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also use following media: CD, DVD and USB hard drive/flash drive.
The repro department should be immediately notified of the receipt of files via e-mail email@example.com.
The files should be delivered to the repro department at the latest on the agreed time. Upon later delivery of files the printing house may not be responsible for timely delivery of finished products.
The repro department should be notified about repair files, all changes, specific requirements and deviations from below indicated requirements to PDF files.
The publications’ PDF file should be designed with 1:1 scale with on-demand publication.
Pure format must be specified by the trim-box or be in the middle of the PDF page.
All used fonts must be downloaded to a PDF file.
The number of pages in the file is not limited. File names must refer to pages contained therein and/or the name of the work (for example: book_09-16.pdf, the front cover.pdf, 09.pdf). Do not use accented characters and special characters except underscore, minus and point.
Repair files must be with distinguished names (for example: 05-09_new.pdf, book_09-16_new.pdf).
Cutting and installing signs are not contraindicated, but they must not be closer than 3mm to a clean format.
Bleed must be at least 3 mm (stamping products at least 5 mm) and possibly towards the binding edge of the publication.
Texts and other critical design elements must not be closer than 5 mm to the edge of clean format of the publication.
Colour images must be converted to CMYK using corresponding ICC profile to printing method and paper – which provides appropriate maximum total percentage of colour (total ink limit). Customer charged ICC profiles in PDF file will be ignored.
Files should not include any other colours than CMYK and necessary spot colours. RGB, Lab and Pantone spot colours not reflected in the order shall be automatically replaced with their CMYK equivalents.
Black-and-white objects must not contain components other than black.
To achieve deep black (rich black) colour to large black areas, we recommend using combination C50% M40% Y40% K100%. In case of small black texts and line objects the deep black colour is contraindicated.
Optimal resolution of the images equals to double density of a print screen. Higher than that resolution increases unnecessarily file sizes and doesn’t raise the quality of the publication. In case of significantly lower resolution, you must take into account a quality loss of the publication. Even the digital increasing of the resolution doesn’t save the customer from the loss of quality. It is rather contraindicated since in such case it does not involve corresponding warning due to low resolution of the images upon image processing in repro.
Paper type determines the print screen density (in case of coated paper 150-175 lpi and in case of offset paper 110-133 lpi).
Pages must be designed completely finished by the customer, it is all advertisements and other elements must be mounted on.
Upon designing black less than 10-point texts and objects with a line thickness less than 0,2 mm, do not use other component colours.
Do not use white less than 10-point size text or object with line thickness less than 0,2 mm on coloured background.
During the customer material processing the overprint is removed from all objects and then assigned to objects that contain 100% black.
If the removal of overprint from coloured objects is contraindicated, for example to achieve any special effects, the customer must notify the repro department of it in advance.
To avoid overprint of large black objects, add 1% of some other CMY component to 100% black.
Designing glue binding, take into account that the 2-3 mm area of publication’s content binding edge of the pages goes missing in the process of binding. From the binding edge side 5-7 mm of image goes missing from the design of cover and content of first/last page. This might be troublesome for the content pages or content pages on the lid for transferring designs. It is also recommended upon transition pages to avoid intersection of the text columns with the back of the product.
In case of online-glue, 1-2 mm from the adhesive side from the edge goes missing.
If punch, foil and spot varnish elements are in the same file with printable material, they must be coloured with spot-colours and they must be assigned overprint.
Following colours should be used upon punch drawing:
Cutting line – red vessel – green perfo – yellow
Punch lines, foil and spot varnish design elements may be also prepared as separate files on condition that corresponding overlap of the elements is guaranteed.
Technical compliance with the conditions listed above is necessary to ensure the required quality of your publication. Upon failure to comply with the conditions we cannot guarantee a high-level of quality.
